2023 in Progress: April Monthly Recap
How is it May! Honestly this month feels like it flew before my eyes.
I don’t know how to feel about how quickly each week goes by. For April, I set specific goals for myself and they’ve been difficult to manage while existing: sleep deprived, uninspired because I am sleep deprived, yet somehow I’m overstimulated and sitting with my planners and list of things to complete. The month of April, however, felt so rewarding and filled my cup as I prioritized my health and wellbeing and family time.
April Goals
Research America’s Beautiful Park Pass- identify timeline to purchase- Note: purchase in summer
Use current State Parks pass 1-2 times when possible!- Braces- schedule orthodontist appt
Submit Leave paperwork- finalize accommodations needed- Schedule a coffee date with my Tia
- Move to May while on Leave
Blog content admin- pull from list to schedule timeline to post contentMommy group virtual lunches- total 3
April Accomplishments
- Spent Easter with family- a mini-family reunion and some got to meet my daughter for the first time
- Drove 2 hours to Oxnard to visit family
- Scheduled 2 mom chats with fellow colleagues over Zoom
- Baby girl’s 1/2 birthday celebration- hosted close family members
- Lots of coffee dates with Hubby! oops to our budget but baby was teething so coffee helped those sleepless nights
- Hiking and catching blossoms at Crystal Cove. Maybe my new favorite, local beach.
- Submitted Leave paperwork- taking a second maternity leave to prioritize family matters.
What I learned this month
- Choose which battles you want to fight. I am learning how to reserve my energy and, maybe right now, every major aspect of my life need to receive 100%.
- Watching my parents grow old as a new parent. Tough.
- I had an honest conversation this week during one of my bi-weekly mom chats. How much some families pay for childcare, frankly scares me. That’s a hard reality to balance as I think about my future goals.
What I am most proud of
- Super proud of myself for prioritizing family. Many memorable hikes, coffee dates, and slow mornings.
- Was out sick again for the 2nd time this year. Prior to the baby, I only got sick once a year. Sick twice in 30 days- that felt like a set back in so many ways.
